Yamaha has just released their new SRT-1000, which they claim is the “world’s first TV speaker base system to offer true 5.1-channel surround sound”.  Most other speaker base systems provide only “virtual” surround sound but the SRT-1000 utilizes Digital Sound Projector technology with five discrete “sound beams”.

The SRT-1000 sits only 3-inches high and is available with an attactive wood enclosure that also enhances sound quality, while providing a solid base for TVs up to 55 inches.  Usefull features abound, including: Bluetooth streaming, Yamaha Home Theater Controller app support for Apple iOS and Android devices and a TV remote learning capability.

Within the svelte enclosure of the SRT-1000 there are a total of 12 speaker drivers – eight of which are “sound beam” drivers, two oval woofers and two built-in space-saving subwoofers.  A rear output is provided for those who want to further enhance bass by adding an optional subwoofer.

The top of the SRT-1000 is finished with a classic hairline texture that provides a sense of luxury and the front panel and sides have a soft rounded design with a beautiful glossy-black finish.  Connectivity is easy with two optical, a digital coax and analog inputs.  And, the SRT-1000 also supports aptX, providing superior sound quality when streaming music via Bluetooth from compatible mobile devices.

The SRT-1000 will be available beginning in September at a MSRP of $499.95 U.S.  For more information see: http://4wrd.it/YAMAHA_SRT-1000.
