Sharp AQUOS UD27, HD Series and Wireless High-Res Audio Player

Sharp UD27

Sharp has just introduced their first entertainment products for 2015, at CE Week - these include: the new UD27 line of Sharp AQUOS 4K Ultra HD LED TVs; updated AQUOS HD series models and Sharp’s first Wireless High Resolution Audio Player.

The new Sharp AQUOS 4K Ultra HD LED TV has a native 3840×2160 resolution and work is underway to also include THX 4K certification for picture quality.  Sharp’s AQUOS 4K Ultra HD UD1 line was the first 4K TV to receive THX certification when introduced in 2013.

The Sharp AQUOS 4K Ultra HD LED TVs will also feature the new SPECTROS Rich Color Display technology, for a 21% wider color spectrum than conventional LED HDTVs for more realistic landscapes, lush nature scenes, and natural skin tones.

Sharp’s new AquoDimming technology automatically enhances contrast and detail in HD images, while Sharp’s proprietary Revelation Upscaler seamlessly displays images from any HD source at gorgeous UHD resolution.

With HEVC (H.265), the latest encoding technology, the UD27 TV is able to play 4K streaming content from streaming content providers, such as Netflix. All four HDMI inputs can accept native 4K (3840 x 2160) signals, at up to 60 frames per second (fps) transmission. The Sharp AQUOS UD27 line meets all of the criteria for the updated Ultra HD definition that were announced by CEA this week.

The Sharp AQUOS 4K UD27 line also features Sharp’s new SmartCentral 3.0, which provides a pictorial, smart guide and offers search across live TV and built-in streaming services by title, genre, time and popularity. It’s so intelligent it will even help you discover new content by providing recommendations based on your preferences.  All the best apps are available on SmartCentral 3.0 including Netflix, HuluPlus, YouTube, Pandora and Rhapsody and many more.

With the SmartCentral 3.0 mobile app, available for free for iOS and Android, viewers can connect smartphones and tablets to Sharp AQUOS TVs to access, control and share content as well videos, pictures and music stored on your smart device.

The UD27 features a solid aluminum frame with a new, ultra-thin, 0.4”-wide bezel and brushed finish, with a stunning table stand, and will be available in September in both 60” (MSRP: $2,999 U.S.) and 70” (MSRP: $4,499 U.S.) screen sizes.

Sharp has also redesigned the large screen versions its popular AQUOS HD series of Full HD LED TVs. The new AQUOS HD line offers consumers the same great HD quality they have come to expect from the AQUOS HD line, along with SmartCentral Apps that provides instant access to all of the best apps.  The fully redesigned Sharp AQUOS 660 line features an ultra-thin 0.4” bezel, narrow footprint and elegant modern stand.

The new AQUOS HD 660 line with be available this Fall in two of the most popular large TV sizes, 60” and 70” class. Consumers will see the large-screen difference with the 660 line. The 60” TV features 20 percent more screen area than a 55” class TV and the 70” TV offers 14 percent more screen area than a 65” class TV.

The Sharp Wireless High Resolution Audio Player (SD-WH1000U) can simultaneously transmit 7.1 channels of digital audio.  Listeners can hear audiophile-quality (24 bit/96kHz) uncompressed audio without cables or wires, which can degrade a signal.   The Sharp Wireless High Resolution Audio Player comes equipped with a SACD and Blu-ray disc drive and supports an extremely wide variety of media types and file formats including SACD, CD, Blu-ray, DVD (video only), FLAC, WAV, MP3 and DSD. The player can access files on a hard drive (via USB) and it can also connect to a home network to access files stored on a network-attached storage device or a networked computer. Navigation and content control are seamless via the compatible Sharp mobile app that will be introduced for both iOS and Android.

High quality audio signals from the player can be transmitted to any WiSA-compliant speaker system, or to any traditional passive speaker via the Sharp Wireless Bridge (VR-WR100U). Together they can bring the full freedom and fidelity of high resolution audio to any high-end speaker system—with the convenience and flexibility of a wireless setup. The Sharp player also transmits uncompressed Full HD video to your TV wirelessly using the Wireless HD (WiHD) standard and an included adapter.

Unlike Wi-Fi, which uses the crowded 2.4 GHz frequency band, the Sharp Wireless High Resolution Audio Player transmits at the much less densely packed 5.2-5.8 GHz band, thereby eliminating potential interference from other devices.

Sophisticated construction techniques and premium materials give Sharp’s Wireless High Resolution Audio Player absolute fidelity and supreme reliability. From all power supply components to all audio path components, all components have been hand-picked by Sharp engineers.

The Sharp Wireless High Resolution Audio Player will be available in September with an MSRP of $4,999 U.S. The Sharp Wireless Bridge will come to market at the same time and have an MSRP of $999 U.S.
